BREAKING PLATEAUS

Have you reached a plateau in your weight loss, thus your holiday wardrobe is not looking perfect on your behind yet? I imagine you may be feeling like he majority of frustrated emailers I heard from last week. Many of you want to know what to do when the scale won’t move.

Be Still and know that if your follow the correct body shaping plan, God will help you achieve your desired results.

Quietly and honestly analyze your lifestyle and see if it lines up with your fitness and weight loss goals.

Here are some possible reasons why you may not be losing weight as efficiently as you wish. Below is a list of things that could be causing your weight loss progress to stall. Read the list carefully and take immediate action to get yourself back on track.

1) Hidden Carbohydrates. More Protein. You may be eating foods that you think are low-carb but really aren’t. By sneaking into your diet these unwanted carbohydrates can add up fast. Know what foods you are able to eat and stick to those in your low-carb diet. You need to become a carbohydrate detective. Become Glycemic Index savvy. If you don’t know what that is check out my Quick Start program. It will get you up to speed in one day and help you lose dimply life destroying body fat. If you don’t seem to get enough protein, consider Life Force amino charge quality protein drink. I have tried to used it every morning for two years to keep my hormones balanced, blood sugar stabilized and appetite controlled. Whenever I did something crazy like sleeping in and forgetting to take Amino Charge I would be sluggish (lack of “charge”) and would fall face first into a sugar binging frenzy and make a run for my favorite sticky gooey pastry. Luckily God would gently nudge me and restore my mind to consciousness and I would call an immediate halt and take my Amino Charge as soon as I could get to it and become sane and in control again.

2) Too Much Food! The average body an only digest 500-800 calories at a sitting when you are on a weight loss plan. Eat when you are hungry and don’t over do it. Keep your portion sizes low and be still and eat quietly with focus on nourishing your body and not sedating our emotions. Just because you are eating correct foods does not mean that you can stuff yourself until you are overfull.

3) Not Enough Exercise. You need to be exercising at least five days per week for a minimum of forty five minutes to boost your metabolism and help your body to burn unwanted fat. You can starve yourself and lose weight, but you will not be healthy, fit or strong. Schedule appointments with yourself to exercise every week. Open a reminder calendar program on your computer and type “Health Appointment” or whatever motivates you to get up and work out. Make yourself a priority. Self Development and Great Health is the greatest gift you can give your self and the ones you love. When you feel good, you are happier and less stressed.

4) Not drinking enough water. A bare minimum recommendation is 64 fluid oz (that's 8 - 8 oz glasses) of water a day, every day seven days per week. If you aren’t consuming enough water you can try to substitute with non-caffeine teas and diet sodas. Remember that these aren’t the same as water but will help you break your plateau and be the envy of your holiday gatherings.

Weekly Fit Tip

Fill the days to come

No matter how difficult an effort may be, that difficulty is only temporary. And it is more than compensated for by the achievement that effort produces, an achievement which can remain long after the effort is over and done.

It's easy to think of perfectly good excuses for not taking action. The time will come, however, when those excuses will look trivial and silly next to your regret for missed possibilities. If you're reluctant to take action, ask yourself this question. Would you rather invest your precious time creating regrets or creating value?

Would you rather live with the temporary discomfort of taking action, or with the permanent regret for not doing so? The opportunities of today must be acted on today if they are to be fulfilled.

The sooner you take action, the more of a positive difference you can make. The earlier you get started, the more time you put on your side.

Before this day is over, make the effort, accept the challenge, seize the opportunity. Fill the days to come with value and accomplishment by being willing to take action right here and now.

Healthy Recipe

Black Bean and Shrimp Salad

Makes
: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1-1/4 cup corn
  • 3-3/4 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2-1/4 pounds cooked shrimp, thawed and drained
  • 12 ounces canned black beans, rinsed
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon non/lowfat margarine
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup green onions, chopped
  • 2 cups lettuce, chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, cut into wedges
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions:

  • Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add corn, ginger and garlic and sauté for 2 minutes.
  • Add shrimp to skillet along with beans, margarine and sugar.
  • Stir frequently until margarine is melted.
  • Add green onions.
  • Toss.
  • Place lettuce on serving plates and spoon shrimp and bean mixture over salad and top with tomato and cilantro.

  • Serving Size: 1 1/2 cups
  • Calories: 350
  • Fat: 4 g
  • Cholesterol: 330 mg
  • Protein: 40 g
  • Carbohydrates: 35 g
  • Fiber: 10 g
  • Sodium: 410 mg
