Positive Habits - Do the Right Thing

What is a habit and why are they powerful tools for success?

Webster’s dictionary meaning of habit
Habit ; a pattern of behavior acquired through frequent repetition.

Repetition is the mother of all skill. A positive habit can lead you to beauty and riches. A negative habit can take you to massive debt and early death. You can work on reversing negative results by changing your thoughts, attitudes, and habits.

A positive thought that precedes a positive attitude that becomes a moment by moment habit is perhaps the most important ingredient to success and a surefire way to achieve and maintain your success in any endeavor. Make it your goal this week to create and repeat positive thoughts attitudes and phrases that empower you to do the right thing which will bring you closer to your desired goal.

Remember innerstates from last week? Here is a refresher for you. You can never study about the brain too much. Innerstates are statements that you make to yourself in a certain way and using a certain form and format that, if done properly, will form many new synaptic connections and neuron patterns and neurodes that will become your Super neuRODES (New Roads) for Success! These are your brain’s synaptic super highways that your path to success is driven on. Innerstates are so powerful. They can be helpful or destructive. Make conscious decision to create positive ones.

Make writing out empowering innerstates a regular habit. Especially when you are stuck, lost or frustrated. Start this week by writing out five positive attitude phrases and repeat them aloud many times each day. In a few days you will notice that your attitude will become more positive. Your words and choices will be in alignment with your goals. Whether you are working on financial goals or health, fitness and wellness goals, new positive innerstates will help you take positive action that will become powerful success habits. Here are some examples:

  • “I am taking positive action that help me reach my goals today.”
  • “I am getting stronger today, I am not tempted to cheat on my diet”
  • “I only say the appropriate things with respect and love”
  • “I feel fantastic and I am getting closer to my goal”
  • “I only eat the best food that makes my body strong and healthy.”
  • “I am on course and I shall not be moved”
  • “I love working out and dancing, I feel so free”
  • “God is in control of my destiny He is lovingly guiding me today”

Positive innerstates which leads to positive habits can truly change your life. I know from personal experience. I am constantly aware of my thoughts, words and habits. Positive habit creation has become a governing principle that I live by. I know in the future God’s guidance and instructions I will be even more successful. You can too!

Weekly Fit Tip

That's how I am

Who are you? Are you sure? Is your self image really accurate, or has it just become a comfortable habit? "I'm clumsy." "I'm shy." "I'm not very good with computers." "I don't have much energy." "I'm irresponsible." "I'm lazy." "I'm fat."

How easily do such pronouncements roll off your tongue, and how often? The more you repeat them -- to yourself and others -- the more you believe them. Such things become self-fulfilling prophecies.

But the whole concept of "I'm this" or "I'm that" is flawed. Every "I'm" is a leftover from the past. You can change. There is no reason in the world to continue to see yourself as lazy, or irresponsible, immature, or anything. They are not who you are, they are simply behaviors that you choose to participate in.

You're not locked in to any particular behavior pattern. Who are you? You are whoever and whatever you choose to be. Jump out of your self imposed box.

There's a whole, wonderful world that exists beyond your comfortable excuses. Cast off your tired, old assumptions and embrace a universe full of great possibilities.

Healthy Recipe

Garlic Chicken Pasta

Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces whole-wheat fettuccine or linguine pasta
  • 1 tablespoons garlic, minced
  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 1/3 cup tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning

Directions:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain well and return to the pot.
  • Rinse and cut all the visible fat off of chicken breasts. Cut chicken breasts into thin strips. Coat a large skillet with nonstick cooking spray (nonfat). Add the garlic and chicken, and stir-fry over medium heat for 4-7 minutes, or until the chicken is well cooked.
  • Reduce heat to low, add the remaining ingredients (except pasta) to the skillet. Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes, stir occasionally.
  • Add the pasta to the skillet, and stir gently.

  • Serving size: 1 1/2 cup
  • Calories: 325
  • Fat: 3 g
  • Cholesterol: 35 mg
  • Protein: 25 g
  • Carbs: 40 g
  • Fiber: 4 g
  • Sodium: 340 mg
