Snacks That Burn Fat


Victoria, Thank you for your awesome Anti-Cellulite CD’s. I love them and I have lost over twenty pounds.

I am a recovering fat person and I have a habit of perpetual snacking. I work in the fashion industry and that makes it even harder to stay disciplined. I love the industry, it’s fast and exciting but there is sugary foods and soda at every meeting and photo shoot

I always feel hungry and that makes me overeat. I even find myself grabbing unhealthy snacks that I know are bad for me. I am so close to my ideal weight, but I am afraid that if I don’t this get this figured out, I will go back to where I was and that scares me. It was very difficult being overweight and working with super thin models and now after losing weight I am starting to feel good about myself. Suggestions??

Hi Dania, Yeah to you for taking some positive action and building the body you want. That is what it takes to succeed at anything today. You have to” just do something” to change the situation or condition.

I know exactly what you mean by everywhere you go there are lavishly decorated tables of food. With the popularity of the Food Channel, presentation in snacks for shoots has become quite commonplace.

When I went to the Good Morning America green room in New York, there were some fabulously gorgeous and sweet goodies for all of us guests.

I was right in the middle of dipping my finger on the white powered sugar on a lovely pastry and the producer barges in and says, I want you to meet Charlie Gibson before you go on. AAHHHH!! I had white powder all over my fingers. I couldn’t wipe it on my BLACK tights. And the last thing I wanted was the producer or Charlie to see the Fitness Celebrity Guru with powdered sugar all over her fingers and clothes.

SO I did what any celebrity would do I faked an immediate potty run and flew out the green room door to the restroom before the producer could stop me. WHEW. I ran into the stall in case there were any other guests or tattle tail network people in there. Now I had another dilemma. Have you tried to wipe sticky pastry flour combined with powered sugar off your hands with toilet paper? I thought for a nano second about dipping my fingers into the toilet and then I came to my senses. So did what you all have done before, I bent down to look across the bathroom to see if there were any feet present. YES! I said out loud when I saw not gossipers in there.

I threw the door open and dashed to the sink and washed my hands real fast to get rid of the evidence that I am just like you and everyone else when it comes to unbridled snacking. I regained my dignity and went back to the green room and the meeting with Charlie was spectacular. He is a wonderful person. He was so genuine and sweet.

Here are some ideas for you to help you at your shoots avoid the crazy scene I just described.

Low Glycemic Fat Burning Foods

Here is a basic understanding of carbohydrate foods and which ones are good and bad for you. You are doing so well on the Anti-Cellulite Plan and I want you to continue to succeed. Here is some basic science that can help you make the right choices.

Glycemic Index – Key to Losing Fat or Getting Fatter

Why is the GI important? When your blood glucose levels are stable you have plenty of readily available fuel for the brain and muscles. If your blood glucose levels drop too low (hypoglycemia) you can feel tired, dizzy, confused and unmotivated. If your blood-glucose levels rise too quickly a rapid drop usually follows this.

Include low glycemic-index foods in meals and snacks to slow the release of glucose into the bloodstream. You will feel more full longer and your hunger pangs will cease. You will have more energy and you will have les mental fatigue and anxiety.

A low glycemic-index snack a couple of hours before exercise will help maintain your energy levels for more effective training.

Shrink Like the Stars

Groovy Green Tea
It's one of the hottest weight loss trends right now among the body sculpted celebrity divas.

I like it hot, cold, bottled or sipped. I am a fan of the New Crystal Light Raspberry Green Tea. It only has 5 calories a serving and they have these cool On the Go packs that you can toss in your purse or gym bag and take with you.

Grapefruit
Have one for your mid morning or afternoon snacks. I like to cut them and scoop out the middle.

The study indicates that the unique chemical properties in this vitamin C-packed citrus fruit reduce insulin levels, which promotes weight loss.

Just make sure you don’t eat one in a staff meeting. Eating grapefruit sometimes makes you have sour expression. You will lose points with your co-workers when they think you are dissing them.

Protein Power
Protein is a power booster. You need it for fat burning, blood sugar management and hormone balancing.

Fuel your fat burning engine with this bodybuilder favorite. Research has proven that protein can help boost metabolism, lose fat and build lean muscle tissue, which help you burn more calories.

An Apple A Day
An apple a day keeps the doctor away is truer than we know.

Apples and apple juices are the best source for mineral boron, which helps to promote bone growth. In addition, the high fiber content helps in slow release of sugars into the body, thereby helps to maintain a steady blood sugar level. That helps control your appetite and helps you stick to your eating plan.

Fresh fruit eaters consume fewer calories overall in their daily food intake. The next time you need to satisfy a sugar craving, reach for this low-calorie, high-fiber snack. You will feel full longer and eat less in the long run.

Broccoli Baby
Calcium has been shown to be helpful in weight loss. Broccoli is not only high in calcium but it's also loaded with vitamin C, which revs up calcium absorption.

This member of the nutrient packed cabbage family is also laded with vitamin A and fiber. It’s a mere 20-calories a cup, this weight loss fat attacking super food not only fights fat, it contains powerful phytochemicals that boost your immune system to help protect against disease.

I have two cups a day. I eat it steamed; I add it to my stir-fry and to my favorite vegetable soup.

Plan, Pack and Carry
Take the time to shop, plan, wash and cut up some of the suggested fat burning goodies I just listed. Put them in baggies or little snack pack containers. Keep them wherever you need them. Keep them in the fridge at work, in a cooler in your car, in the FRONT of your fridge at home. First in sight is first in mouth.

Each of these fat burning weight-loss boosters fills you up and keeps you full longer on fewer calories.

Water-rich fresh fruits, and veggies suppress your appetite and fill you with mega vitamins and minerals. That allows you the ability to eat more nutritious healthy food without bulking up your bottom line.

They are also high in fiber. Vegetables keep your digestive system clean and operating smoothly while providing steady insulin levels, which prevents fat storage.

Hello Victoria,
I have been a big fan of yours from the times that you had the body shoppe on fit tv. I used to do the routines before going to an aerobics class and I loved your positive attitude, your passion about fitness, and your precise descriptions of the exercises. I felt like I was learning from you, but never felt as if I was being talked down to at any time. I also loved the positivity in your show. Everybody in the show looked like they were having fun, and I brought that feeling with me during my own fitness routine.I became very fit and lost a great deal of weight, but later I was in law school and working on a masters degree at the same time while trying to maintain a demanding husband and barely slept, let alone worked out or ate things that were useful to my body. After I graduated, I am taking some time off to get healthy again and dumped the bossy husband. I am working out with a trainer, and I do your tapes at home as well, and I have to say that you provide so much inspiration to me because I feel that I can get healthy and move regardless of the weight that I gained and I can have fun and can be positive while I do it.
