Tight Buns and Totally Hot Thighs!

I am doing great on your Quick Start Program and I need to add more cardio. I am burning out on the treadmill. What else could I do for cardio to mix it up?

Bridgette, I feel you.

I was getting ready for a photo shoot in LA for a new dance collection and I almost lost it. I was rehearsing for the commercial and I did this wild hip hop move in a pair of short shorts and I caught a glimpse of my A** in the mirror and FREAKED TOTALLY OUT!! I swear that it was still moving a few seconds after I had stopped!

I only had two weeks to tighten up and build some holy (high and lifted up) buns!

SO I did some research on fat burning exercises that targeted my butt and legs.

I found it! The elliptical. I have passed by them in the gym for years, but never really had gotten one until I personally needed an emergency backside tune up!

Here’s some fantastic information about them and the training benefits.

If you are not familiar with what it looks like it is an exerciser that is a combination stair climber/cross-country-ski machines. Your feet are on pedals, which move in an oval shaped motion. Your hands grasp handlebars that are moved back and forth with your arms. The machine resists the motion of your arms and legs.

The home machines designed for home use provide resistance with a band around the flywheel's rim. Comparatively, most health-club elipticals use magnetic resistance, which allows for smoother pedaling. They provide the following benefits as compared to other forms of exercise:

*Have oval-shaped pedaling motion, which is much easier on joints than running on a treadmill.

*Provide a weight-bearing workout, which helps protect bones against osteoporosis. Pedaling an exercise bike, swimming or using a rowing machine are not weight-bearing exercises.

*Burns a similar number of calories to treadmill exercise with the same amount of effort.

Additionally, elliptical exercise provides:

40 percent more gluteal (tight buns) involvement than traditional machines

Excellent knee range of motion, hip flexion and extension – easier on joints

A body position that minimizes the aggravation of knee injuries

A reverse motion that emphasizes hamstrings

A forward motion that emphasizes gluteal (tight buns) involvement

Although studies have found that elliptical machines in health-clubs tend to be superior to home machines, home users can still get a good workout from the elliptical machine.

An Elliptical Fat Burning Bun Shaping Workout will help you to achieve the greatest rate of fat burning in the 65% to 75% range of your target heart rate.

Keep your resistance level at level 1 or 2 for thirty minutes. Put your favorite music on your ipod and go for it. Make sure you make compete strides and contract your glutes as you exercise.

This will keep you in an aerobic state, guaranteeing adequate oxygen is supplied and allowing your body to burn fat. Stored body fat will continue to be used as energy, allowing you to reach new fitness and health goals.

If your body fat is over 30% you should adjust the time and intensity according to your ability level.

You could do the elliptical three to four days a week and the treadmill two days a week. Remember when you are in a fat loss mode, you want to do some form of cardio five to six times per week until you reach your goal.

It will be worth the sacrifice and investment. You will love the way you look! And you will be so much healthier.

Before You Begin – Play Safe and Stretch It Out

Always Warm-up by stretching your lower body for 5 minutes before working out. Stretch out after you are done. Make sure you do your abs four times a week and keep dancing to stay flexible and graceful.

Bridgette, it took me about three workouts before I felt smooth with my strides, but it worked so well and was working my shorts during my commercial!!

Hello Victoria,
I have been a big fan of yours from the times that you had the body shoppe on fit tv. I used to do the routines before going to an aerobics class and I loved your positive attitude, your passion about fitness, and your precise descriptions of the exercises. I felt like I was learning from you, but never felt as if I was being talked down to at any time. I also loved the positivity in your show. Everybody in the show looked like they were having fun, and I brought that feeling with me during my own fitness routine.I became very fit and lost a great deal of weight, but later I was in law school and working on a masters degree at the same time while trying to maintain a demanding husband and barely slept, let alone worked out or ate things that were useful to my body. After I graduated, I am taking some time off to get healthy again and dumped the bossy husband. I am working out with a trainer, and I do your tapes at home as well, and I have to say that you provide so much inspiration to me because I feel that I can get healthy and move regardless of the weight that I gained and I can have fun and can be positive while I do it.
